Grapes are versatile fruits used in a wide range of popular foods from raisins to jelly to wine. Grape production and wine making originated in Asia (Armenia, Azerbaijan, and Iran). In those regions, small-berry varieties were available and were produced 4000-5000 years before Christ. Nowadays, grapes are produced at about 8 million ha, with 70% being processed in Europe.They are also packed with nutrients and antioxidants,and have high amounts of the phytonutrient resveratrol, which is good for the heart.
The fruit of the grape contains important and valuable nutrients. Its vitamin — B1, B2, B6, and folic acid contents are remarkable. As far as minerals are concerned, the level of potassium, calcium, magnesium, and microelements is substantial. Both the fruit flesh and the skin of red grapes contain high amounts of flavonoids, such as anthocyanosides, flavonols, and tannins, responsible for the red color of the berries. In contrast to the world grapes consumption trend, only a small proportion of the grape is processed. There are two main groups of grape varieties: white and red. Its crop requires long, warm, dry summers and cool winters for the best development, the required temperature is 15 to 42 centigrade. The Red Delicious is a clone of apple cultigen, now comprising more than 50 cultivars, first recognized in Madison County, Iowa, in 1880.The Red Delicious apple is “gorgeous and very inviting.Red Delicious apples are medium-sized and have a conical shape. They are broadly round at the top and taper at the base. The thick skin turns bright red well before the fruits are fully ripe, which can lead to early harvests. As they mature, the skin becomes a darker red with white lenticels visibly dotting the surface. The fine-grained flesh is creamy white, crisp and juicy and offers a mildly sweet taste with flavors of melon.Mastung district Balochistan province is the best Red Delicious producer in Pakistan. Mastung has the ability to produce highly colored apples due to the cool evening temperatures in late summer and the fall combined with good light diffusion.Red delicious is available from October to December.
Golden Delicious is a very popular supermarket apple variety.The variety was discovered by a West Virginia farmer at the end of the 19th century. It is generally considered to be a seedling of Grimes Golden, to which it bears a strong resemblance. The variety was soon taken up by the famous Stark Brothers nursery, who were so impressed by it that they bought the original tree and an area of land around it. The tree lived on into the 1950s, by which time it had become firmly established as one of the world’s great apple varieties.
